Whether as delicious souvenirs or for enjoying during your stay on the island, don't miss out on the following products, with 100% Ibizan flavour.
This delicious sausage is protected by the geographic seal of the Balearic Islands and must be sampled during a holiday in Ibiza. Created with lean pork and spices, the flavour and texture vary depending on the family recipe. It is eaten roasted, spread on bread, or accompanying traditional dishes.
Created only with flour and water, it can seem quite plain for travellers who are not used to this type of bread. At breakfast, sobrasada or tomato and olive oil is usually spread on it. In restaurants it usually appears as an aperitif, along with garlic mayonnaise and olives.
With a soft, tasty meat, Ibizan lamb appears in several dishes of the traditional cuisine. Currently there is the "Anyell d'e" seal, a guarantee that certifies that the lambs were born and raised in Ibiza by traditional practices. If you are going to buy lamb, look for this seal.
It is one of the best fish of the island's cuisine, due to its tender and tasty flesh. It has few bones, is usually prepared fried, and its pinkish colour is similar to that of red mullet. It is eaten from September, when its fishing season begins.
The almond tree is common in the valleys and fields of Ibiza, as can be seen at the start of the year, when they blossom. With a delicious flavour, it is easy to find almonds at farmers' markets.
Due to the main livestock of the island always having been cows and goats, its cheeses have been created from this kind of milk. There are companies which continue to create them in the traditional way.
