Arroz de Matanzas is a traditional dish prepared in winter.
Arroz de Matanzas is a traditional dish prepared in January, when country folk sacrificed pigs to make the island’s traditional cold meats, such as sobrassada or butifarrón sausages. Rice is a filling winter meal, infused with meat and vegetables passed down to modern times with the recipes still intact. The World Championships is a light-hearted competition open to everyone held in the streets of Sant Antoni, where participants offer plates of rice at good prices.
