Church of Santa Agnès
Legend has it that the residents of Santa Agnès entered a tough battle with the parishioners of San Mateo to finish their respective churches. Ingenuity prevailed in the case of the former, who chose to build lower roofs in order also to mitigate the structural insecurity of the construction caused by the haste. That is why today this beautiful white church is the lowest on the island of Ibiza. Another legend describes the abrupt opening of a side entrance to the church due to the discomfort of the locals, who did not want to use the main entrance, the scene of a bloody crime. Life in the countryside was hard and tinged many past events with superstition. Today it is the beautiful backdrop of the village square, a haven of peace and relaxation. Its small porch and discreet bell tower give religious architecture a more human dimension.
